Infinite Scroll

I've been trying to keep creativity active in all aspects of my life, and I've come across the Art House Co-op's Free Project Fridays.
The past few weeks, they have been offering the Infinite Scroll project, where people are given a template and theme and then they are compiled into one long drawing. This week's theme was space, and above you can see my submission.
I began with drawing on paper, and the altered and coloured it digitally - something i'm not quite familiar with in terms of illustration.

It's really quite exciting to be a part of a large group project. Two years ago, I was involved in the Sketchbook Project by this organization and it was exhilarating.
Definitely I'm going to try and be more involved in public forms of creativity.

My submission in the context of the infinite scroll.

You can see the entire "scroll" here!

Anticipation

Fall is here and winter is coming close.  Rain drops stuck to every surface, everything becomes reflective. The days are short and dark, noses are cold and children pretend to be dragons when they see their breath. Somedays there is snow, but it doesn't stay. It warns us of what is to come, blankets us, and leaves again but we know it shall return.  As we bundle in our layers, the world gets a little bit more sleepy.  It is a time of waiting, anticipation for the deep cold. They always say, "the snow will stay after Halloween". I'm not ready for it yet.

A Bit of a Change

Now that school has started, my blogging will probably be for procrastination purposes only (especially on tumblr.)  However, I'm going to try and post as much school related stuff on here.  I want to have a place where I can share my school things without it being bombarded with people on facebook, or mixed with random cat videos on tumblr.

It will also force me to take better pictures and documentation of my work at school, so that more people can understand the projects.

So here's to a new beginning!  Happy school days, everyone.

the romance of the river

Winnipeg lies at the merging point of two rivers, a place of trade and sharing, of stories and histories.  Taking the river boat has always been a special treat, a simple 3 minute ride through the city's heart with nothing but the sound of a motor and the wind. People walking along the river walk, waving at the passersby. The water here is so temperamental, always flooding in the spring, bringing danger and destruction, prohibiting us access to it. But when the river is low, the people take hold, and it becomes my favourite part of the city again.

printstagram

My sister is using instagram photos to create cards that notify your table number for her wedding. They are a combination of photos I took in the city, and ones she took out at the farm.  Each will be turned into a polaroid-like print out, with a handwritten name and table number on it. I loved every minute of having a part of this.

Summer Days

These summer days have been spent waking up early for morning swims, seeing friends, biking across the city and ice cream treats.  These little moments bring a smile to my face when all seems so hectic.
I hope your summer is bringing you smiles.

Summer Skin

It's official!  This month, Chelsea asked me to join her on an adventure by helping out at Summer Skin!  I make bracelets, but we also sell necklaces, crop tops and tanks for guys and gals.  It's so much fun working with my hands creating something with love for everyone to share.

Working with friends, having fun, and spending the summer doing something creative is incredible.
